A look at the last book of the Bible
Revelation Unwrapped

Often the Book of Revelation has been a mining ground for all kinds of theories and predictions. It is a difficult book and frequently unread, yet it is designed to bless ordinary Christian believers. It is not a Book of 'Revelations', but one single Revelation or unveiling of who Jesus Christ really is, and what that means for the church and for the world.

We shall be seeking to unwrap this Revelation,
every Wednesday at 11am via zoom.

To join, click the link in Bryan's email.

There will be a midweek service of Holy Communion according to the Book of Common Prayer on Wednesday. Anyone from the three parishes is welcome to attend. Social distancing will be observed throughout.

We all want to be happy. Why is lasting happiness so hard to find?

Life Explored is an informal and relaxed seven-week online course. It’s for anyone who wants to find contentment and happiness in life. You don’t need to know anything about the Bible, and you won’t be asked to pray or sing. You can ask any question you like, or you can just sit and listen. Whoever you are, whatever you’re thinking, LE is a place for you to discover the greatest gift in the universe.

7pm, Thursday. To join via Zoom, click the link in Bryan's email.

Invite a friend.

We intend to have one church open at 10.30am each Sunday for a single service for the three parishes.

18th October, St Peter's, Heversham
25th October, St Thomas', Milnthorpe

1st November, St John's, Levens

8th November, Remembrance Sunday
10.00 am Services of Remembrance in St Peter's and in St John's, followed by an Act of Remembrance in each churchyard.

2.30 pm Public Act of Remembrance in Milnthorpe,
followed by short service.

There is a Service of Holy Communion (BCP) in St Peter's at 8am
on the first Sunday of the month.

The midweek Holy Communion (BCP) in St Thomas' will resume on the third Wednesday of each month at 2.00pm.

There is no restriction on the numbers attending Sunday services, except what is physically possible to maintain social distancing.

Face coverings are also required to be worn in a number of public indoor settings including places of worship. However, those who are leading services, and those who assist them (for instance by reading, preaching, or leading prayer) do not always need to wear a face covering, although one should be worn especially if physical distancing cannot be maintained (i.e. distributing consumables).

We would advise those attending to observe social distancing and hand washing. Not all pews will be available, in order to observe proper distance. Congregational hymn singing is not permitted but we shall have suitable music played in services.

Holy Communion will be given in one kind (bread) only, as directed by church guidelines.

The order of service will be available as a download each week and we would encourage people attending to print and bring their own copies.

The parish churches are open during the week as places for individual private prayer, as follows:

St John's, Levens: Monday 10.00am-2.00pm,
Thursday 10.00 am-1.00pm

St Peter's, Heversham will not be open this week.

St Thomas', Milnthorpe: Wednesday 10.00am-2.00pm

Please observe social distancing and use hand santisers when in church. Thank you for your understanding of the situation.

Daily Hope offers music, prayers and reflections as well as full worship services from the Church of England at the end of a telephone line.
The line – which is available 24 hours a day on 0800 804 8044 – has been set up particularly with those unable to join online church services during the period of restrictions in mind.
Options available include materials also available digitally by the Church of England’s Communications team such as Prayer During the Day and Night Prayer updated daily, from Common Worship, and a recording of the Church of England weekly national online service.
A section called Hymn Line offers callers a small selection of hymns, updated daily. An option entitled ‘Hymns We Love’, provides a hymn and reflection.

The Cumbria Ecumenical Spirituality Group
has issued the following prayer.

Loving God, as your Son healed the sick
and brought good news to the needy,
be with us this day.

Loving Jesus as you taught us to
'Do unto others as you would have them do to you',
be with all the medical staff this day.

Loving Spirit, your gift is healing,
Bring your healing fire to our homes, our hospitals and our county,
but most of all, be with us this day. Amen
